Alice G. Cuff ~1912-2007

Alice G. Cuff died on Jan. 16, 2007 at the age of 95. The eldest daughter of Eva and Sydney Gould, she was born in Bridgeton, N.J.

She attended Bridgeton Public Schools and Glassboro State College. She had a long career in education, teaching in Maryland, Salem County, N.J. and Atlantic City. After retiring from teaching, she worked in the first federally funded program for senior citizens in Atlantic County. She was active in numerous organizations including: Caring Medical Day Care Services, American Cancer Society, the Links of New Jersey, the Wi Mo Mais, the Atlantic City Housing Authority, the Federated Women's Clubs of New Jersey, Community Awareness Cancer Task Force, Westside Residential Cancer Unit, Mayor's Advisory Board on Senior Citizen Services and Trustees Board of Elliot House for Seniors. She also was an active member of the Jethro Presbyterian Church, in Atlantic City. She directed the first federally funded programs for Senior Citizens in Atlantic County. She was instrumental in bringing the Retired Senior Citizens Volunteer program into the county. She was the first woman appointed to the AC planning Board where she served 9 years. Governor Byrne appointed her to his Advisory Committee on Aging and she was the delegate for New Jersey to the 1981 White House Conference on Aging.

Mrs. Cuff was predeceased by her husband, Jerome Cuff, two brothers, Sydney Gould and Donald Gould, and a sister Pauline Boykin. She is survived by two brothers, Leroy H. Gould of Atlantic City and Harold Gould of Bridgeton. She is also survived by a sister, Greta Chappell of Bridgeton. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007. The viewing will be from 10 -11 a.m. at the Jethro Presbyterian Church, 423 North Ohio Ave., Atlantic City, N.J. Funeral services will follow immediately. Interment will be at the Gouldtown Cemetery in Bridgeton. Arrangements by Edwards & Son Funeral Home, Bridgeton, N.J.

 

Anna B. Cuff ~1919-2002

Anna B. Cuff, age 83, of Millville, died Wednesday at her home. She had been in failing health for several years. Mrs. Cuff was born in Quinton and was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Myrtle Burgess Stanley. She had lived at her present address for 50 years and had formerly resided in Deerfield Township and Hopewell Township.

She had been a longtime attendee of the First Wesleyan Church in Upper Deerfield Township. She was an avid gardener.

Survivors include her husband, Belford L. Cuff, Sr. and one son, Belford L. Cuff, Jr. of Millville; She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mary Anna Cuff and a sister, Elizabeth Stanley.

Rev. Dwight Mikesell will conduct funeral services in the First Wesleyan Church, 200 West Laurel Heights Drive, Upper Deerfield Township, on Monday morning at 10:00. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Millville. Friends will be received at the church on Monday morning one hour prior to the services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Padgett Funeral Home, Upper Deerfield Township.

 

Anna D. Cuff 1917-2009

Anna D. Cuff 92, of Stow Creek Twp., passed away Sunday morning August 16, 2009 at home with her family by her side. She had been in failing health for ten years but has been under hospice care for the last year and a half. 

Born in Dover, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Minous and Eliza E. Durham, and the wife of the late Howard C. Cuff Sr. who passed away in 1987. She grew up in the Dover area and has been an area resident for over 60 years. 

Anna was a homemaker, and she loved to cook and entertain for her family and friends. She loved entertaining company, and was always glad to have visits with friends, whether it was stopping by the house or during family picnics. Most of all she cherished her five grandchildren, and enjoyed every minute spent with each of them. 

Surviving her to cherish her memory is her son and daughter in law whom she lived with for the past 10 years, Howard C."Tinker" Cuff and his wife Diane, one sister Elmira Hughes of Millville, her five grandchildren Hilary Jane Martin, Matthew Burton Cuff, Chelsea Ann Cuff, James David Cuff, and Toby Howard Cuff, and several other relatives, nieces and nephews. 

Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by six brothers Harry, Raymond, Carlton, Minous Jr., William and Norman Durham, and two sisters Beatrice Mosley and Mary Pritchett, and her step daughter Arlene Clark.

Anthony Cuff, age 39, of Camden, died September 5, 2004. He is survived by his mother Ollie Cuff, 1 brother Leotis (Snoop), maternal grandmother Bessie Edwards, 1 aunt Barbara Trader, very special aunt Janet Moore, 3 cousins Chris, Jay and Tino Trader and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Earl H. Cuff 83, of Bridgeton, formerly of Fairfield Twp., died Wednesday January 20, 2010 in Cooper University Medical Center, .Camden where he had been a patient for the past week. Born in Bridgeton he was the son of the late Reuben and Mabel (nee Pierce) Cuff and the husband of the late Betty Emily (nee Street) Cuff.

Earl was an area resident all of his life and was retired from Ecko Industries in Clayton where he worked as a mechanic, for many years. He was a U.S. Army v eteran and was a former member of the American Legion Shoemaker Post 95 of Bridgeton. He als o was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indians of Bridgeton. Earl was a colle ctor of what most people would call junk mail especially sweepstakes entry forms, and he loved walking out to his mailbox and sorting through his mail. He especi ally enjoyed spending time out to the garage with the boys at Fairfield Motors, and drinking a cold Mountain Dew.

He is survived by his niece Joyce Stanton and nephew Jack Davis, and several great nieces and nephews, and his special dear friend Deleatha Mosley. He was predeceased besides his wife and parents by two brothers Jerry Cuff and Hildreth J. Lively, and a sister Anita Cuff Edwards.

 

 

Eleanor M. Johnson Cuff ~1927-2000

1. Obituary: October 11, 2000. Born in Swedesboro, she was the daughter of the late James and Sarah Reba Pritchett Johnson. She was a homemaker most of her life and was involved in various church activities.

Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Chester L. Cuff, Sr.; one son, Chester L. Cuff, Jr., of Vineland; and four sisters, Esther Nyberg of Harmersville, Katherine Coombs of Upper Deerfield Township, Olive Edminster of Elmer, and Marguerite Johnson of Vineland. She was predeceased by her brother, James Johnson.

Private services will be conducted by the Rev. John C. Letterman, pastor of the Faith Fellowhip Church, Franklinville, NJ. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville. There will be no public viewing. Arrangements are by the Sray Funeral Home, 62 Landis Avenue, Carll's Corner, Upper Deerfield Township.


2. Obituary: Cumberland County Reminder, 25 Oct 2000, p. 22 "Smoke Signals": ...condolences to the family of the late Eleanor Cuff.  Eleanor M. (Johnson) Cuff, 73, of Millville, died at Bridgeton Hospital on Monday, Oct 9, following a year-long illness.

Born in Swedesboro, she was the daughter of the late James and Sarah Reba Pritchett Johnson.  She was a homemaker most her life and was involved in various church activities.

Florence Cuff, 87, died in the Bridgeton Nursing Home Tuesday following a lengthy illness. She had formerly resided at 14 Manheim Avenue.

The wife of the late Matthew Cuff, she was a member of Bethany Christian Church where she served as a stewardess. She also belonged to the Golden Age Club.

Mrs. Cuff is survived by: a daughter Margaret Hursey of Pleasantville; two granddaughters, Barbara Coursey of Bridgeton and Wanda Coursey of Detroit, Mich.; two great grandchildren, Vicky and Kyle Coursey; a sister, Margaret Hubbell of New York; and numerous other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Christian Bethany Church on Burlington Avenue, Saturday afternoon at 1. Interment will be at Gouldtown Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church an hour prior to the services.

 

Franklin Delano Cuff ~1937-1999

A memorial service for Franklin Delano Cuff, 62, son of Marguerite Harmon and Parris Mosley, stepson of William M. Harmon of Bridgeton will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John's Methodist Church, Fordville, Fairfield Township. He was a 20-year-veteran of the U.S. Air Force and died in Temple V.A. Hospital, Temple, Texas on May 10, 1999.

Gerald “Jerry” Cuff, 68, of Fairfield Township died Tuesday in South Jersey Hospital – Bridgeton. Born in Fairfield Township, son of the late Reuben and Mabel Pierce Cuff, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired five years ago from Spollore’s Cleaners, Bridgeton, and previously worked for Menz Brothers Cleaners in Bridgeton.

He was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Indians.

Surviving are three sons, Danny, David and Steven, all of Massachusetts; a brother, Earl of Fairfield; a sister, Anita of New York; and his companion, Naoma M. Ridgeway.

The Rev. Francis E. Champion and Peter Mowers will officiate at service at 10am Saturday in the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Carll’s Corner, where friends may call after 9am. Burial will be private in Gouldtown Memorial Park.

 

Gloria Mae Cuff ~1928-1999

Gloria Mae Cuff, 61, of Quinton Township died Wednesday in her home. Born in Salem, the daughter of Carrie Mae Jones Cuff and the late Rufus Cuff Jr., she was a lifetime Quinton resident. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Holy Church in Quinton. She enjoyed gardening, and arts and crafts. Surviving are one son, Deano H. Cuff of Stow Creek; one daughter, Carla Cuff of Penns Grove; her mother, Carrie Mae Cuff of Quinton; one brother, Carlos H. Cuff also of Quinton; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Mt. Vernon Holy Church, Bridgeton-Salem Pike, Quinton, where friends may one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell. Arrangements are by Padgett Funeral Home, Upper Deerfield Township.

 

Howard Austin Cuff ~1972-2000

Howard Austin Cuff, 28, of Fort Worth, Texas, died Dec. 12. He was born in Salem son of Turhan and Alberta Miller-Cuff of Carneys Point Township.

Mr. Cuff was a 1990 graduate of Penns Grove High School and a 1995 graduate of Kutztown University, Kutztown, Pa. In high school and in college he set several track records. He was a former member of the Christian Life Center in Pennsville, where he taught Sunday School, organized church-sponsored Mission run-walks and participated in the street ministry. In Texas he worked for Kenneth Copeland Ministry, Lake County School, the All Church Home and Saint Matthews Greenbrier School. In Fort Worth, he was an active member of Iron City Church.

Surviving in addition to his parents are a sister, Stephanie Lynn Cuff of Swedesboro; his grandparents, Norwood Cuff of Salem and William Miller of Coatsville, Pa.

Services are 1 p.m. Thursday in The Christian Life Center, South Broadway, Pennsville, where friends may call after 11 a.m.  Burial will be in East View Cemetery, Salem.    Services are by Edwards & Son Funeral Homes, Bridgeton and Salem.

1. Obituary: Howard Cuff Sr., 72, of RD 7, Box 430, Fairton-Gouldtown Road died Wednesday evening in Bridgeton Hospital, where he had been a patient one month. His death was quite sudden due to a fall at his home. Born in Fairfield Township, the son of the late Wilbert E. and Anna Durham Cuff, he was the husband of Anna Durham Cuff. He had resided at his present address the past 33 years and had resided in this area all his life.

Mr. Cuff was an operator for the former Owens-Illinois Glass Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1967. He was a member of the Golden Emblem Club and the Bridgeton First Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Howard C. Cuff Jr. of Bridgeton; two grandchildren, Hilary Jane and Matthew Cuff; seven sisters, Imogene Cuff, Velma Wright, Agnes Durham, Mrs. Melvin (Mary A.) Durham, Mrs. Thomas (Alberta) Munson, Mrs. Frank (Edith) Dean and Irene Webster, all of Bridgeton; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Arlene Clarke, in 1974 and a sister, Ella Mae Cuff.

Services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. A.C. McKenzie, retired Nazarene pastor, from the Russell C. Sheppard Funeral Home, 613 Salem-Quinton Road (Route 49), Salem. The interment will be made at Fernwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends will be received Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Imogene Cuff ~1911-2005

Imogene Cuff, 94 of Bridgeton, died Thursday December 1, 2005 in South Jersey Healthcare - Regional Medical Center, Vineland. She had been a resident of the Cumberland Manor and had been failing health for the past three years. Born in Fairfield Township, she was the oldest of nine children born to the late Wilbert E. and Anna (nee Durham) Cuff.

She previously, had resided with her sister and brother in law Agnes M. Durham and the late Hughee Durham, and enjoyed cooking and helping with the family produce market. "Genie" as she was affectionately called was also the family genealogist and remarkably sharp at going over and remembering things that had happened years before.

She is survived by six sisters, Agnes M. Durham of Vineland, Velma R. Wright of Fairfield Twp., Mary Alice Durham and her husband Melvin of Fairfield Twsp., Alberta E. Munson, Edith M. Dean and her husband Franklin, all of Fairfield Twsp., and Irene D. Webster of Fairfield Twsp., a niece and nephew whom she helped raise Bruce A. Durham and his wife Sally, of Bridgeton and Dr. Agnes D. durham of Marlboro, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one brother Howard C. Cuff, and a sister Ella Cuff.

Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Tuesday December 6, 2005 from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave., at Carll's Corner, Upper Deerfield Township at 1 p.m. The Rev. Barbara Hoffman will be conducting the service. The interment will be in the family plot in Gouldtown Cemetery, Fairfield Township. Ivanette Mosley Cuff ~1916-1984

1. Obituary: Ivanette Mosley Cuff, 68, owner and operator of Iva's Cab Co., died Sunday afternoon upon arrival at Bridgeton Hospital. A resident of 868 E. Commerce St., she had been in failing health the past two years. The daughter of the late Burton and Mary Carter Mosley, she was born in Dover, Del., and had been a resident of Bridgeton since 1934, residing at her present address 19 years.

Mrs. Cuff established Iva's Cab Co. in 1964, serving as a driver as well as a dispatcher up until recent months when she became seriously ill. Prior to opening the taxi service, she owned a restaurant in Bridgeton and a concession stand at Cowtown. She had at one time been employed by Veale's Yellow Cab and the former Pritchard Canning and Seabrook Farm companies.

She is survived by a close friend, Geraldo Sanchez, with whom she resided; a sister, Pauline Mercado of Woodside, N.Y., and three aunts, Katherine Cuff of Bridgeton, Agnes Newlin of Philadelphia and Laura Pierce of Monroeville. She was predeceased by a daughter, Arlene Clark, in 1974.

Services will be conducted by the Rev. Howard L. Cassaday, pastor of Central United Methodist Church, on Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Carll-Peterson-Ilacqua Funeral Home, 208 E. Commerce St. Interment will be made in Fernwood Memorial Park. Friends may call Thursday afternoon one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Joseph B. Cuff ~1921-2001

Joseph B. Cuff of Angola Beach, and formerly of Chester, Pa., died Sunday, May 13, 2001, in his home. He was 80.

Mr. Cuff served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a driver salesman for John J. Kelly, Inc. of Chester, Pa. He loved surf fishing. Mr. Cuff was a 26-year member of Teamsters Local 830 in Philadelphia and the American Legion Post of Wilmington. He was also a lifetime member of the Irish-American club of Chester and a member of Mary the Mother Of Peace Catholic Church, where he served on the building committee.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Laura Modzelewski Cuff; two sons, Jerry of Wilmington and Joseph of Aston, Pa.; a daughter, Patricia Gordon of Palmetto, La.; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Service will be private. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery South, Millsboro. Arrangements by Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck.

Joseph C. Cuff, 80, died Thursday at the South Jersey Hospital Bridgeton, following a short illness. Born in Bridgeton, he was the son of the late Herman and Hannah Cuff and had retired from the U.S. Post Office in Philadelphia.

He had prior employment with Acme Supermarkets in Philadelphia, Pa., and the Salem Pipe and Iron Foundry in Bridgeton. At a young age he joined John Wesley United Methodist Church in Bridgeton and later attended Fry Tye Chapel in Norma.

He is survived by three sons, Jay W. of Plainfield, Martin W. of Sicklerville and Archer W. of Bridgeton, a daughter, Dianne W. Staggs of Vineland from his previous marriage to Lena W. Green of Bridgeton, two sisters, Linda Brown of Bridgeton and Margaret Moore of Norma, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Herman “Mike” Cuff.

Services will be held 1pm Tuesday in the Fry Tye Chapel, Almond Road, Norma. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Hopewell Township. Friends may call at the church Tuesday from 11am to 1pm. Arrangements are by the Edwards and Son Funeral Home, 208 E. Commerce Street, Bridgeton.

 

Katherine Carter Cuff 1909-1999

Katherine Cuff, 90, of Bridgeton died Saturday in Cumberland Manor, Hopewell Township. Born in Leipsic, Del., daughter of the late Hopewell and Sarah Ridgeway Carter, she was the wife of the late Romaine Cuff. Surviving are a daughter Barbara C. Coursey of Bridgeton: a sister, Laura Pierce of Monroeville, a granddaughter, and a great- grandson. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Edward's and Son Funeral Home, 208 E. Commerce Street, Bridgeton, where friends may call after 11 a.m. burial will be in Gouldtown Memorial Park, Fairfield Township.

 

Larry W. Cuff ~1943-1985

1. Obituary: Larry W. Cuff, 42, of RD 2, Box 76, Sheppards Mill Road died suddenly Wednesday afternoon at Bridgeton Hospital. He was admitted for tests and died shortly after entering the hospital. Even though he had been seriously ill the past three months his death was quite sudden. Born in Bridgeton, he was the son of Bertha Loatman Rivera of Sheppards Mill Road and the late William Cuff. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a truck driver and lived most of his life in Bridgeton.

In addition to his mother and stepfather, Samuel Rivera, he is survived by two sons, Larry W. Leslie D. Cuff ~1946-2004

Leslie D. Cuff, 58, of Bridgeton, died Saturday morning in the South Jersey Health Care Regional Medical Center, Vineland, after an extended illness. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Nelson Cuff Jr. and Dorothy Dunn Cuff, and was the husband of Harriet Hymer Cuff.

Mr. Cuff was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and was employed with E.I. DuPont for 20 years prior to his retirement due to his health. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Quinton Sportsmen's Club.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Taralynn Sotomayer and husband, Orlando of Vineland; two grandchildren, Orlando Sotomayer III and Aramis Sotomayer; four sisters, Virginia Valentine of Cedarville, Doris Street of Dover, Del., Joyce Hopson of Salem and Narissa Pierce of Fairfield Twp; one brother, Lawrence Cuff of Bridgeton. He was predeceased by one brother, Merris Cuff; and three sisters, Betty Wright, Elanora Cuff and Hazel Gould.

Lester L. Cuff, 90, of Hopewell Twp. passed away suddenly Wednesday September 14, 2011 in Cumberland Manor, where he had been a resident for the past two weeks.  His home was in

Hopewell Township, NJ Lester was born on Jan. 24, 1921 in Elsinboro Twp., Salem County, he was the son of the late Roscoe W. and Pearl C. (nee Hughes) Cuff, and the husband of the late Marion E. (nee Mink) Cuff. Mr. Cuff had formerly been a resident of Bridgeton, until he moved to Hopewell Twp. where he has lived the past ten years.  Lester had been a truck driver for 45 years and retired from the former Cross Transportation, he had also previously worked and drove for Leone Industries and Clement Pappas. He was a World War II veteran and served in the Asiatic- Pacific Theater in Central Burma India in the U.S. Army. Lester was an original founding member of Teamsters Local 676, a member of the American Legion Shoemaker Post 95, and a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of Bridgeton. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and many friends.Lester is survived by his children Lilia L. Pierce of Millville, Lester L. Cuff Jr. and his wife JoEllen of New Hampshire, Albert R. Cuff Sr. and his wife Joanne of Bridgeton, two son in laws Ralph Pierce of Upper Deerfield Twp., and Herbert Carney Sr. of Indian Head, Maryland, one brother Donald Cuff Sr. and his wife Betty of Atco, eight grandchildren Danielle Tussey, Dionne Dosa, Albert Cuff Jr., Denise Woods, Nicole Cuff, Nicholas Cuff, Herbert Carney Jr., Lytisha Cuff, three great grandchildren Alex Tussey, Adlyn Woods, Ariel Pierce and several nieces and nephews.  Besides his wife and parents Lester was predeceased by a daughter Agnes E. Mabel Pierce Cuff, 75, of RD 7, Buckshutem Road, Gouldtown died Saturday in Bridgeton Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Salem County, she attended Quinton elementary schools and Salem High School. She had lived in Gouldtown most of her life and was a member of Bethany Christian Church of Bridgeton where she served on the Stewardess Board.

Survivors include her husband, Ruben Cuff; two sons, Earl of Bridgeton and Gerald of Massachusetts; a daughter, Anita Edwards of Buffalo, N.Y.; a brother George Pierce of Bridgeton; eight grandchildren and four nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2pm from the Bethany Christian Church. The viewing will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are by the Lively Funeral Home.

 

Mamie Cuff ~1926-2005

Mamie Cuff, 79, of Bridgeton, went home to be with the Lord at her residence after a brief illness. Born in Upper Deerfield, N.J. to the late Daniel and Hattie (Fredrick) Cuff she was a selector for Anchor Hocking Glass Company where she retired in 1980.

Mamie leaves to cherish her memories one son Jerome Cuff, two brothers Elvin Hart and Daniel Hart, one sister Francis Price, 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three daughters Diane, Jeannette, and Viola.

Services will be held Thursday, February 17, 2005 at the Glory Tabernacle Church, Buckshutem Rd. at noon where friends may call 2 hours prior to services. Past David Hadley will be eulogizing. Interment will be held at the Gouldtown Cemetery immediately following services. Services are entrusted to Edwards & Son Funeral Homes, Inc. Bridgeton & Salem, N.J.

Marlene Cuff ~1941-2003

Marlene Joyce Cuff, 62, a resident of Vineland, died early Friday morning at the South Jersey Hospital Systems, Vineland Division, where she had been a patient the past week. She had been in failing health several months. Born in Bridgeton, she was the daughter of the late William Sr. and Gertrude Pierce Goff.

Mrs. Cuff was employed by The Training School at Vineland as a group home technician for the past 13 years. She had formerly been employed at the Genesis Elder Care, Rainbow Division for 18 years, and also worked part-time for the ARC Cumberland County. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Alice S. Felts Federated Club and the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe.

Surviving are: one daughter, Taralynn Sotomayor and her husband, Orlando Jr. of Vineland; one brother, William Goff Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Hopewell Twp.; a daughter-in-law, Penny Goff; one sister, Geraldine Pierce; five grandchildren, Brooke, Kristen, and Keith Goff, Orlando 3rd, and Aramis Sotomayor; two aunts, Darlene Fontenot and Josephine Pierce; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Keith A. Goff.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Alvin C. Stokes Sr., retired pastor, on Tuesday, March 18 at 1 pm from the Sray Funeral Home, 62 Landis Ave., Carll's Corner, Bridgeton, NJ. Martha Ann Cuff, 65, of RD5, Old Burlington Road, died Tuesday evening at the Bridgeton Nursing Home where she was a patient one day. She had been in failing health the past year. Born in Dover Del., she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Lola Durham, and was the wife of Elmer D. Cuff. Mrs. Cuff had been employed by the Bridgeton Hospital for 17 years and also by the Vineland State Training School as a cook.

Surviving in addition to her husband are: four daughters, Mrs. Alex Pritchett, Blackwood, Mrs. Walter Parish, New York, Mrs. Homi Yome, Silver Spring, Md., and Mrs. Norman Ritchie, Vineland; two brothers, Reuben Durham, California, and Jerry Durham, Woodbury; nine sisters, Mrs. James Mosley and Mrs. Mary Morris, both of Bridgeton, Mrs. Roy Durham, Miss Rae Durham, Miss Henrietta Cuff, all of Merchantville, Mrs. Harold Cuff, Clayton, Mrs. Casper Reed, Willamstown and Mrs. George Orme and Mrs. Alice Thompson both of Pennsauken; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cuff was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and her pastor. the Rev. Ben Buck will conduct the funeral services on Friday, at 11 a.m. from the Garrison-Sray Funeral Home, 62 Landis Avenue, Bridgeton. Interment at Laurel Lawn Cemetery. Natala Cuff, 83, of Vineland, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2004 in South Jersey Healthcare-Regional Medical Center in Vineland. Born in Woodstown, N.J.

Natala attended programs at Senior Care of Vineland and lived at the Spring Road Group Home since 1999. Natala will be missed and always loved by the Group Home Staff.

Norman Cuff ~1934-2001

Norman Cuff, 67, of Quinton Township died Sunday in The Memorial Hospital of Salem County, Mannington Township. Born in Mannington Township, son of the late Grafton and Beryl Gould Cuff, he was a lifetime Quinton resident.

Prior to his retirement more than a year ago, he was employed with Durand Glass Co. in Millville for 11 years. Prior to that, he worked at the former Owens-Illinois Glass Co. and Jersey Packing Co., both in Bridgeton. He was an active member of Quinton Baptist Church and was a church usher and former trustee. Mr. Cuff was an avid gardener.

Surviving are two sons, Norman L. and Donald G., both of Quinton; two daughters, Lisa A. and Polly K., both of Quinton; three sisters, Pauline Pierce of Kennett Square, Pa., Florence Cuff of Bridgeton, and Alice Dean of Quinton; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Ann Ridgway Cuff.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township. Burial will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Township.

Norwood M. Cuff, 93, a life ling Salem resident, went home to be with the Lord, March 31, 2013 after an extended illness. Born to the late Mordecai and Paulene Cuff he was a Supervisor of Tolls at the Del. River Bridge Authority until he retired. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Mt. Pearl Cuff, age 86, of Bridgeton died Friday morning, October 1, 2004 at Rainbow Center in Pittsgrove Twp. She had been in declining health for the past two months. Born in Mannington Twp, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Tamson Webster Cuff. She had been a Bridgeton resident for over 50 years and prior to that had lived in Lower Alloways Creek Twp.

Ms. Cuff had been employed with the former Bridgeton Dye & Finishing Company for 14 years. Previous to that she had worked at the former P.J. Ritter Company in Bridgeton for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church in Upper Deerfield Twp and enjoyed traveling and caring for home and yard.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews and was predeceased by three brothers, Vivian, Grafton and Russell Cuff and two sisters, Mildred Gould and Gertrude Pierce.

Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp on Wednesday at 11 am with her pastor, Rev. Dwight Mikesell officiating. Ron Lee Cuff III, infant son of Melina Vega and Ron Lee Cuff Jr. of Vineland, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the A.I. DuPont Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware.   Ron Lee was born in Vineland on May 25, 2011.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Ava Lee Cuff of Vineland; maternal grandparents, Maribel Vega of Millville and Michael Evans Jr. of Cedarville; maternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Evans of Cedarville and maternal great-grandfathers, Antonio Vega Sr. of Vineland and Michael Evans Sr. of Camden; paternal grandmother, Darraya Vega of Hopewell Twp.; paternal grandfather, Ron Cuff Sr. of Upper Deerfield Twp. and paternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Pierce of Vineland.

Roosevelt Cuff of Pennsauken, NJ died January 18, 2005, age 80.

Tamson Webster Cuff, 89, 47 Edwards Avenue, died today. She was the widow of Aaron Cuff. Born in Fairfield Township, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Webster.

She was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church of Salem for over 56 years.

Survivors include three sons, Vivian of Bridgeton, Grafton and Russell of Salem; two daughters Gertrude Pierce of Bridgeton, and Pearl Cuff at home; two brothers, Russell and Earl Webster of Bridgeton; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2pm, from the Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church, York Street, Salem, with interment in Cuff’s Cemetery, Canton. Friends may call Friday at the Church from 7 to 9pm.

William Henry Cuff, mechanic with Shoemaker Dairies for the past 20 years, died Wednesday afternoon in the Salem County Memorial Hospital following an illness of several months. He was 57.

A native of Greenwich, Mr. Cuff lived in Bridgeton most of his life. He was a member of the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church of Bridgeton.
The son of the late Henry and Maggie Cuff, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sadie Cuff; one son, Rodney; four stepchildren, William Lockman, Russell Lockman, Mrs. Bernetta Pierce and Belford Lockman, all of Bridgeton; three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Pierce, Mrs. Pauline Pierce and Mrs. Hazel Pierce, all of Bridgeton; one brother, Luke Cuff, Woodbury; 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church with the Rev. O.E. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Gouldtown Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday evening from 7 to 9 at the Lively Funeral Home, 85 South Pine Street.
