On her death certificate she is listed as Rosie Wilson Durham, parents Isaac Green and Annie Durham. Census record 1880 and family tradition confirm that she was a daughter of Isaac and Annie Green. Wilson must be a middle name. She is listed as Rosie W Durham in the 1900 census with her husband Walter E.
We have recently seen that Walter's middle name may be Elisha rather than Elias. Still waiting for a death certificate for him.

One of my cousins that I met in the past year Lillian Carney Murray gave me some information that I hope will be familiar to someone.
Lillian's parents were Alma Mosley & Joseph Carney Jr. Joseph's parents were Joseph Carney SR & Elsie Green. Joe Sr. at some point in young adulthood lived with Henry Morgan. Joe had a brother named Wint Carney and a sister named Maggie. While living in Cheswold, Joe was a gravedigger for Manship church.
Alma Mosley had a brother who was called whistling Harry Mosley.

Looking thru the database we found a Joseph Carney who married Elsie Green. We had no children listed (which means our file was incomplete, not that they never had any.) The attached file for Joel Durham shows the relationships between the other file we sent and the family you mentioned and Joel Durham. Joel's daugher Harriet married James Perry Carney and had Wint, Joseph/Joel and Margaret. Joel's granddaughter Margaret Annie (daughter of Elisha) married Isaac Green and had Elsie Green who married Joseph Carney. We have listed Wint, Joseph and Maggie as the children of Joseph and Elsie, which appear in the attached report.3. Subj: Elsie & Joseph

Elsie & Joseph had 2 sons, Joseph Jr and Frank. Joe Jr. married Alma Mosley from Cheswold and they had Lillian Carney. I don't remember if it was the 1910 or 1920 census that Elsie was listed with her 2 sons in Media and no Joe. Elsie moved to Phila. met thomas Stewart and they were married and had a daughter Theodosia.
I had the pleasure of knowing Theodosia the last 2 years and we went to visit many cousins together. I am sorry to say she also recently passed away.

After speaking with Lillian today, this is the same family but the Joel/Joseph that is listed is her grandfather. Lillian says her father also died in 1965 and her grandmother said her grandfather couldn't bear losing his son first and died within months. Lillian states his real name was Joel but her grandmother said people always called him Joe or Joseph and that's why she named their son Joseph.(His) marriage didn't last long. Elsie remarried in 1926.

From: fourfish@bellatlantic.netI spent a lot of time in Cheswold, Delaware as a little girl. It was wonderful to go there in the summer, kind of like a step back in time and totally refreshing from life in inner city Philadelphia.
Anyway, the "Amish" were referred to as Dunkards. I believe theirs was a more liberal order than the Amish we know from Lancaster County, Pa. I recall when my uncle Willie died (William Carter) they came in and washed, ironed, cooked, cleaned, etc. They were so helpful to my Aunt Rae. Uncle Willie was "laid out" in the living room of the house. Things were so very different then, it truly was a sweeter and kinder time to live.
