Marvin Handsor Jr. reports 10/16/2005 -- "Handsor Cemetary is a family cemetary primarily for Sammons and Handsor. I cannot accurately tell you when the last person was interred there at the moment. Handsor's have most recently been associated with the Nanticoke group of Native Americans (thanks very much to the hard work of the late Ned Heite). As I think you may find with many of the groups that left the DelMarVa area the Handsor group did not make a point of announcing any native ancestry but rather made an effort to integrate with surrounding groups as best as they could. As such I'm not certain that the Handsor Cemetary would be called a native cemetary. It is without a doubt in the middle of a farm property in the former Dover Township in the municipality of Chatham Kent. The current owner is Don Handsor." |
