...caption on the back "One of the Jacksons" which was written by Katherine E. Newlin Thomas. Her husband, Ralph Carter Thomas (1914-1995) was a son of Elijah DeSoto Thomas (1887-1977) and Bessie Jackson (1886-1954). Bessie was a daughter of Nathaniel C. Jackson (1850-1934) and Lucy N. Perkins (1854-1936). Nathaniel & Lucy's children included: Lula/Lulu, Bessie, Nora/Norah, Clarence, Ira Woodrow "Woodie", Maddie Rae, and Phillip H. The child in this photo is probably a member of this family, but which one?

Hi John
I took a look at the pictures and number 20 is Ira Jackson with the mustache and it looks like they were taken at the farm in Alloway....

...if the gentleman with the mustache is not Ira then it is his father and mother. with Ira in the middle because from my pictures, Ira and his father look alike.

(from John C Carter)   ...has the caption on the back "Don't know. Must be Ralph's Uncle Woodie and Mamie and son -- Ira Jackson." This caption was written by Katherine E. Bessie had a brother named Ira Woodrow "Woodie" Jackson (dates unknown), but my records show him as married to Winifred Louise Clark--could her nickname be Mamie? Also, I show them as having children named Lucy Margaret, Ethel "Etta" Mae, John, Edward, Hazel, and Margie, but I don't show any son named Ira. Could there have been a son named Ira Jr., named after his father? Or was the caption merely referring that "Uncle Woodie's" real name was Ira Jackson? (and therefore the young man in the photo might be John or Edward).

I recognize some of the people in this picture from the Millsboro Seventh-day Adventist Church that was founded by some of the members of the Street Family. I went to that church with my great-grandmom and remember some of the people in the picture. I will try to forward this picture to one of the Norwood's who could identify quite a few from that church's branch.

Who I recognize is:

1. the man standing to the far left by the lady with the flowered dress holding his glasses in his hand is Emery C. Norwood of Millsboro.

2. the woman standing with the flowered dress on is his wife Catherine Street Norwood.

3. The man standing directly behind Catherine Norwood with the checked tie is Sylvester A. Norwood of Millsboro.

4. The man standing to the far right with a lighter colored suit on looking to the side by the door with the blinds is Carlos Street of Millsboro.

5. The man standing second over from Carlos Street looking directly at camera with salt and peppered hair is Samuel Barnes Norwood - Brother to Emery.

6. Girl standing at the top of the stairs with a lighter colored blouse on with hands folded in front of her which cannot be seen is Fedora Norwood - daughter of Samuel B. Norwood and Thelma Norwood.

7. The man looking sideways second down on stairs with black suit on is Lester Davis son of Minnie and Charles Davis of Millsboro. I will try to get more folks here identified by folks from home.
