Etta Durham Thorpe & daughter Sandra Thorpe Stevenson

 

Etta Durham Thorpe, wife of the late James Thorpe and daughter of the late Enoch and Lola Durham was born July 24, 1917 in Kenton, Delaware.

She departed this life on Sunday, December 23, 1990 in her home in Queen Manor, Dover, Delaware.

She was educated in the Kenton Schools. After leaving the Kenton area she resided in Dover.

On May 10,1941 she was united in Holy Matrimony with James Thorpe, who departed this life on July 16, 1967.

Etta was employed by the State of Delaware in the Communication Center. After retiring she became a member of the Foster Grand Parent program until her death.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Cheswold, and sang in the Senior Choir until her health began to fail. Occasionally she would worship with Union Baptist Church, Dover.

Etta was easy going and was deeply concerned about the welfare of her children. She has made a wide circle of friends by whom she shall be missed. Her winning smile and personality will be remembered by all who knew her.

She was interred at Immanuel Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cheswold, Delaware.
