William married Ida Catherine Norwood daughter of Harry Clayton Norwood and Addie Delema Wright on 16 Feb 1935 in Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware. Ida was born on 27 Aug 1908 in Delaware. She died on 9 Jan 1995. She was buried in Israel United Methodist Church cemetery, Lewes, Sussex, Delaware.
